An embroidered silk dragon from a costume
A horizontal silk panel from the lower border of a Ming robe for a member of the imperial family, or aristocracy. The lively five-clawed dragon in couched, gold-wrapped, thread with a yin/yang disc above his head. The background of bold, multi-coloured clouds above green and yellow waves which support spotted coral branches – emblems of wealth.
